As many have noticed Captivating has been shut for the past few weeks and this was mainly due to me making a number of background script changes to the site. Due to the amount of changes it was easier to close the site so things did not look funky.
So what has changed? Well first we have a brand new career list which is now ordered by category. We have a new award listing and the sidebar is a new widget which have a beautiful presentation. We are also using a new script for both the press archive and media archive.
All of these scripts have been made by the amazing Claudia at Never Enough Design.
Finally, as you can see the whole site has a brand new look designed by me, hope you all like it!
Hello loyal visitors,
I just wanted to take a moment and explain what is going on with the media archive. Some may have noticed it looked strange when visiting. This is because when we moved hosts I forgot to move the theme and as a result I lost all the styling. So I am at present working on re-creating the theme and as such the media archive won’t work as well if you try to view any videos.
I am sorry for any inconvenience caused and I will update you all once it is functional again. In the meantime, more photo and news updates are to come, so watch this space.
We have returned to our original domain Natalie-Dormer.com. For those who have been following the site since it opened on May 4, 2011, you will remember this was Captivating’s original home. When I closed the site after leaving fansites behind for a period I sold the domain. While I don’t regret my reprieve from fansites because it helped me tame my fansite addiction, I did regret selling the domain. This is partially why we moved from nataliedormer.org to natalie-dormer.net, no home has ever felt quite right. So we have no come full circle and I couldn’t be any more excited.
Please note that Captivating can still be reached from both nataliedormer.org and natalie-dormer.net as both domains redirect to the .com.
Hi all,
As you can see we have a brand new layout on the main site which is designed by me. This layout is also responsive so if you are on any mobile or tablet devices, the main site is now mobile friendly. A big thank you to my friend Claudia who helped my learn how to do responsive themes.
I hope you all like the new look. I know I haven’t updated the site since I brought the site back online, the last term of university was incredibly intense. The good news is, I have now graduated with a Bachelor of Psychological Science!! I am now in the process of getting a job with my degree. Now that I have graduated, I now I have more time on my hands and will be working on getting this site up-to-date again.
Watch this space, updates are coming soon.
Hi all,
Many of you would know Captivating from when it was at the url natalie-dormer.com. I made a choice last year to close all my fansites as I was too much online and not outside interacting with other people. I don’t regret the decision as it taught me alot about myself and taught me which sites I really loved and those I loved but not enough to run a site on. But most importantly I learned that I was spending so much time online I was shutting the real world out. Fellow fansite webmasters are all familiar with the phenomenon where we take on too much and many still struggle with cutting down and realising its a hobby, its not meant to take over your life.
I missed this site alot and have decided despite my busy uni schedule, I wanted to open it again. I adore Natalie and she is the one out of all I closed I truly missed the most I will be now only running this site and one other I am building. I am content with that as fansites are meant to be a hobby, I have learned alot about myself as I said and I have no desire to return to where I was before.
So, I am so excited to have Captivating back online and continuing to show my admiration for Natalie. I will try to catch the site up as soon as I am able to.
A big thank you to both Claudia and Stef. Stef for allowing me to use this domain and Claudia for always been such a supportive friend and also allowing me to use the domain as her Natalie site which resided on it had just been merged into Stef’s Natalie site natalie-dormer.net.
Hello everyone,
I appologise for my long absence from the site. I have been going through alot of changes in my personal life and running my sites was the last thing on my mind. I won’t make any promises as to when the site will be back up-to-date but know that is my ultimate wish and plan.
In the meantime, our previous host shut doors and we have now moved to our new home at Flaunt. A huge thank-you to them as they made the transfer progress so seamless and I didn’t have to lift a finger and with my slow internet that was gratefully appreciated.
Please watch this space for when the updates resumes.
As you can all see I have put up a new layout for the site and a gallery theme will follow soon. I made the layout and I am really proud of it, the photos of this theme will be on the site soon, I need to catch the site up. Anyway hope you all like it.
After a long time of running the first layout for the site I thought it was time for a change. This current layout was made by the lovely Nicole at Nowhereland9 Design. She did an absolutely fantastic job wouldn’t you agree. She also made us a WordPress Media Center layout, and I will debut that very soon as I am switching out media archive from vshare as I do not like it.
Hi everyone, I had to step away from all my sites for awhile, in late August I very unexpectedly lost my Grandma, who I was very close too, so naturally it’s been a tough few months, but to add to it, I fell very behind at uni and was having a very hard time coping, so I had to focus just on that.
But I am pleased to say the site is completely up-to-date again, bar The Fades. Over the next week or so I will catch the site up with screen caps and video clips. I will also be converting our media archive to wordpress media and I am considering organizing the photoshoots by year since there is a few now.
So I have almost got all the pages back up, all that’s left is online and some pages in site. Google cache was very useful because I wasn’t able to get a copy of the site from archive.org, but thankfully google cache had cached some of my pages, which was very helpful because I had done a really good biography for Natalie and I was able to get a hold of that, more over I was able to get a cached version of the affiliates so as soon as I finish the pages I’m going to restore the affies and broken sidebar content.
